This is a new and larger 0.4-liter version of the Moomin mug Family, originally released in 2002. There are several differences in the illustration compared to the original; for example, the Moomin characters are arranged differently, and Moominpappa is facing a different direction, making it easy to distinguish from the smaller version. This mug is part of a collection of four mugs and two bowls that will be available exclusively in Finland at K-food stores and online at K-Citymarket. According to preliminary information, the products will be available from August 19, 2024, to January 25, 2025. The original illustrations are based on Tove and Lars Jansson's comic #17 "Moomintroll and the Comet," Tove Jansson's novel "Moominland Midwinter," and comic #8 "Moomin Begins a New Life," as well as Lars Jansson's comic #70 "Moominpappa at the Gates of Old Age."

Who designs the illustrations for the Moomin mugs?
Tove Slotte, born in 1957, is a Finnish artist and a graphic designer. She is a professional ceramist. Tove Slotte worked at Arabia from 1985 to 1990, after which she has worked as a freelance designer. She is best known for designing and illustrating the Moomin products for Iittala and Arabia ceramics. Tove Slotte has been a Moomin fan since her childhood. She says her favourite Moomin book is The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My. Tove Slotte has designed the Moomin products for Arabia for more than 30 years.
