Opera (2025–)

Moomin Mug Opera is a special release for spring 2025, available exclusively in Japan. The mug is part of the limited-edition Opera collection designed for Scope, launching on April 1, 2025. In the Opera mug, the Moomins are practicing their opera singing skills. The illustration is based on a poster and booklet created by Tove Jansson for the world’s first Moomin opera. The artwork was adapted by Moomin Arabia illustrator Parvati Pillai, using Tove’s original drawings as a foundation. On the front of the light yellow mug, Moomintroll appears in an opera cape and feathered hat, holding a harp. In the background, Snufkin, Moominmamma, and Moominpappa are working on the opera’s script. On the back, you’ll find Mrs. Fillyjonk, the Hattifatteners, Little My, and Miisa – the unexpected opera star. The top of the mug features a decorative pattern, and there’s a special stamp on the bottom. The mug is part of the Teema series designed by Kaj Franck. The Opera collection also includes two plates, all available only through Scope’s channels in Japan.
