The 2024 Moomin Day mug is named Spring and will be released on August 9, 2024, at 12 PM Finnish time (GMT +2). As usual, the mug will be available in a limited edition, and the purchase limit is 6 pieces per customer. The mug will be available in the Moomin Arabia online store and selected Iittala stores. This year, spring arrives in August! Every year, before he sets off on his winter wanderings, Snufkin leaves a letter for Moomintroll, promising a reunion in the spring. The annual Moomin Day is a promise of a new, special mug. The illustrations on the mug were done by Tove Slotte, a long-time Moomin mug illustrator at Arabia, who is now retired. She drew Snufkin on the mug based on Tove Jansson's original watercolor work and added flowers to his hat. The watercolor was used as an illustration for the spring song in the book "Visor från Mumindalen" (1993). Moomintroll, Snorkmaiden, the brook, and some other smaller elements in the illustration are taken from Tove Jansson's comic strip "Moomin’s Winter Follies" (1955). The daffodils are from the book "Moominland Midwinter".
